Solar · wind · storage · generators

From generation to consumption.

ProcessWatch began on the demand side: every machine, section and unit of output. Now it watches the supply side too. Solar inverters, wind turbines, batteries, generators and the grid all report to the same platform, so every kWh is traced from where it was made to where it was used, and every shilling it saved is proven.

One platform, end to end

Everything that makes, stores and uses your energy.

Solar PV

Every inverter against what its panels and the measured sunshine should give. Soiling, a blown string fuse or a tripped inverter shows the same day, with its cost.

Wind

Hub-height wind speed against output, capacity factor and availability. Before you buy a turbine, we measure the wind and tell you honestly whether it pays.

Batteries

State of charge, cycles, round-trip efficiency, and whether the battery is really shaving your peak and carrying you through outages.

Generators

Hours, litres and litres per kWh. ProcessWatch flags a generator running while the battery sits full, or running half-loaded and burning fuel.

Grid and net metering

Import, export against your limit, outages and export credits. Your own meters keep the utility's bill honest.

Your loads

The same platform already meters every section and machine, so flexible loads can move into the solar hours, where each kWh is cheapest.

Three ways to go solar

Grid-tied, hybrid or off-grid: designed for how your site runs.

Each type is sized by its own rules, checked against its own risks and priced with its own equipment. The proposal states which one fits and why.

Lowest cost per kWh

Grid-tied

Solar runs alongside the utility and the plant uses it first. No battery, so the quickest payback.

  • Zero export, or net metering where approved
  • Stops in an outage by law (anti-islanding); a PV-generator controller can keep it running with your generator
  • Best where the grid is reliable and the load runs in daylight
Backup and evening use

Hybrid

Solar and a battery work with the utility. Surplus is stored for the evening and essential loads keep running when the grid fails.

  • Battery sized for your critical loads and backup hours
  • Backup board with automatic transfer; can trim the demand peak
  • Best where outages are frequent or a generator runs often
No grid needed

Standalone (off-grid)

Solar, a battery and a grid-forming inverter run the site as its own micro-grid, with a generator for long cloudy spells.

  • Sized for the worst month and the days of autonomy you choose
  • Inverter checked against your largest motor's start
  • Savings measured against running on diesel alone
Designed from your own meters

A proposal you can take to the bank, and to the regulator.

Our engineers size solar, storage and wind from your plant's real hourly load, not a guess. Every size is costed over 25 years and the best value is recommended, with the alternatives shown.

  • Array layout on your roof or land, string design and single-line diagram
  • Month-by-month yield with P50 and P90, and a typical day against your load
  • Investment by item, payback, IRR, NPV, cost per kWh and a sensitivity table
  • The permits and standards for your country: utility interconnection, net metering, licensed installers, IEC 62446-1 commissioning
  • Monitoring from day one, so the savings in the proposal are measured, not assumed

How a project runs

  1. Call and site details: bills, roof or land, outages.
  2. Design from your meters, and a written proposal.
  3. Survey: structure, shading, cable routes; utility application.
  4. Installation by licensed contractors and technicians.
  5. Commissioning tests to IEC 62446-1; utility inspection.
  6. ProcessWatch live: every kWh and every shilling, from day one.
Quick estimate

What could solar do for your plant?

Three inputs give a planning range. A design from your own meters gives the real figures.

Ready-made templates

Monitoring set up in a day.

Rooftop solar

Inverters, irradiance and module temperature, the grid meter and the plant load. Zero export or net metering.

Solar + battery + generator

Hybrid sites: battery state of charge and cycles, generator fuel, outage ride-through.

Solar farm

Inverter blocks, weather station, point-of-connection export meter, availability and performance ratio.

Wind turbines

Wind speed against the power curve, capacity factor, availability and export.

Inverters, batteries and controllers connect over Modbus TCP or RS485 (SunSpec where available). Modules, inverters, batteries, turbines and protection are in the ProcessWatch shop.

Questions

Straight answers.

Will solar cover my whole bill?

Rarely, and we will not pretend it does. Solar covers daytime energy; the demand charge and night load remain. Our proposal shows the share solar covers, month by month, from your own load.

Can I export to the grid?

In Kenya, commercial and industrial customers may export under the Energy (Net-Metering) Regulations, 2024, up to 1 MW and their highest demand, with exported energy credited at 50%. Exporting without approval is not allowed. We design for your own use first.

Is a battery worth it?

Only in some plants: where outages are frequent, where diesel is the alternative, or where evening peaks set the demand charge. The designer compares sizes with and without a battery and recommends one only where it pays.

Does wind work here?

In a few places it works well; in most towns the wind is too light. We measure at hub height before recommending a turbine.
